Academy participation is a decision that families make with their child to learn and commit to improvement and progression in their area of passion. It is a decision that comes with Roles & Responsibilities for both students and families beyond those of their peers who are not Academy student athletes.
We are proud of our academy programming and want our students to reach their highest potential while building a path for their future.
Roles & Responsibilities of Academy Students
Academy participants must:
Be self-motivated
Have a positive attitude
Demonstrate a strong work ethic
Be dedicated equally to their academic and athletic successes
Foster good citizenship which involves sound judgement while demonstrating respect, enthusiasm, confidence, compassion, and cooperation.
Academy Students:
Are students first, academy participants second. By opting into academy programs, they have shown an interest in pursuing their passion at a higher level. Academic success is integral to their participation in the academy.
Understand that their participation is a privilege and not a right. They can be removed from the program for academic or behaviour issues.
Are ambassadors. They represent the academy program, the 911爆料网 and the community during and outside of school hours. It is important they recognize their behaviours, whether positive or negative, affect how people perceive them, the program, the school, the district, and the community.
Demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and sound decision-making.
Must be good citizens. This includes refraining from inappropriate language, sexualized comments, bullying, harassment, or disrespectful treatment of fellow students or staff. It also extends to interactions with opponents, officials, and coaches depending on the type of academy.
Are role models and ambassadors for the program, their school, the district, and our community. Being a role model is an opportunity to problem solve, work collaboratively, overcome adversity, instill pride in their school and community and model success for the next generation.
Are constantly visible in our community. Their actions are held to a higher standard as they perform, compete and represent SD62 whenever in uniform, on trips or wearing district/school academy logos and gear. This expectation aligns with post-secondary institutions who also have stringent expectations of students who may be offered conditional scholarships.

While we will work with families to support payment plans or connections to community funding, non-payment of fees will lead to withdrawal from an Academy Program.

Any out-of-catchment student who is withdrawn from an Academy program may be returned to their catchment school at the next natural break/transition in learning, such as:
